It is not enough to know that Puccini and Verdi take part in “influencer-by” association; we must know by whom was influenced which, C-with-D. which played the part of the “influencer” and which played the part of the “influencee”. It is another manner of warning to believe against that the names assigned with the types of association (as “was influenced by”) imply any kind of directionnality.
